Membership and Dues Structure

The Sun Lovers Under Gray Skies Naturist Events Club (a.k.a. The SLUGS) is a registered non-profit club incorporated in the State of Washington.

The SLUGS tradition offers a wide variety of social and outdoor naturist activities. We are an active club of ongoing members who enjoy a wide range of activities. The SLUGS also offer a low cost, easy entry for the new naturist to join a group of like minded people and “try out” social nudism in a wide range of activities. We are a "Travel" club, meaning we do not own land, but have our activities on public land, or visiting clubs who do have land (landed clubs).  As a result, we have very low expenses, and our dues are very nominal and are based on individual memberships.

We do not discriminate based on age, race, religion, gender or marital status. One of our primary goals is to be a vehicle for entry into naturism.  We especially encourage families and college students wishing to have a rudimentary understanding of nudiquette to join us.  We choose to judge a person on their actions rather than their status.  We are Singles Friendly - meaning not only unmarried persons, but married persons whose spouse chooses not to participate. (We do, however, strongly recommend that the non-participating spouse be aware of and accepting of their partner's participation in naturist activities.)  We are also Family Friendly - meaning our activities are will always be appropriate for children as well - the same (or better) than you would find at any public park.  Parents are always welcome to bring their children along - as long as they accept responsibility for their actions.

If you want to be with a group of people who have not lost the zest to live, who love to be outdoors in the sun, who like to travel and go to new and different places - AND - who like to be nude as they enjoy all these things, then the SLUGS may be for you.  Typical activities for a year would include - all nude of course:  Hiking, backpacking, hot springs visits, mountain lake swimming, beaches (including the world famous Wreck Beach in Canada and the two legal nude beaches in Oregon), Volleyball, sauna, hot tubs, potlucks, bicycling, kayaking, canuding, houseboat trips, retreats, picnics. In addition, we also visit landed clubs to participate in various of their organized activities, such as Bare Buns Fun Runs, Regional "Gatherings", Jazz Festivals, Nudestock, other Music Festivals.  In the winter things drop off of course, but we try to have at least one monthly activity where friends can get together.

Although we do not require it, we would encourage you to also join The Naturist Society (TNS) or the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) – both if possible.  TNS and AANR are national organizations and a membership in TNS or AANR is usually required before you will be admitted to a landed club's grounds. TNS also publishes a high quality quarterly magazine called Nude & Natural, which is included with the membership.  TNS, through its Naturist Action Committee (NAC) and its Naturist Education Foundation (NEF) actively work against poor legislation and to maintain our right to use public lands nude.  The SLUGS publish a monthly (except during winter) newsletter which has news of future trips, reviews of past trips, timely articles, and a calendar of events.

A membership in TNS or AANR will give you access to many of the landed clubs across the country.  Each club does reserve the right to limit admittance based on its own local rules.

Since many of the events on the SLUGS calendar include trips to our local landed club neighbors; a TNS or AANR membership would carry the necessary qualifications for admittance.  However, there are many SLUGS events that are on public land so there are still many activities to choose from.

We prefer to meet protential applicants and recommend attending one SLUGS activity where a board member can answer their questions.  Just ask for a board member at any event. They look forward to meeting people interested in our club.

One of the primary goals of the
SLUGS is the gathering together of a community of compatible naturists. A diversified group of people interested in promoting the healthy benefits of clothing-free activities while building a community of trust and friendship.  We believe it is important for those interested in joining the SLUGS to understand the goals and ideals that our group endeavors to uphold. It is our intention to ensure, as much as possible, that when a new member joins the SLUGS, everyone is benefited.

To aid you in discovering who the SLUGS are and what we do, have a look at our ACTIVITIES CALENDAR page and try to attend one of our events listed there.  You might find an activity open to the public -  hiking to a local Hot Springs, Trip to Wreck Beach, or one of the many Bare Buns Fun Runs or nude music festivals at a landed club.  Attend any of these "open to the public" activities on the date we have listed on our calendar to find a group of SLUGS having fun. Drop us an email introducing yourself and asking directions to the event if you need help finding it.  Often, you will find an email address for the host or coordinator of the event you are interested in - in that case, send them the email.

The SLUGS have adopted the policy of running a background check on all applicants to assure our membership that we do not inadvertently admit a person that has a conviction of a sexual crime or of domestic violence.  We also check the AANR Advisory List to make sure that no one who has caused trouble at another nudist club is admitted. Your membership application and signature gives your consent for these checks.

The membership application packet – in the form of a downloadable PDF file
also has a "Hold Harmless" agreement to sign and return with your membership application.

There are a couple of basic rules we insist on:  1) We run a background check on all applicants to assure that there is no conviction of a sex crime nor of domestic violence, 2) You treat others as you would want to be treated, 3) When nude, do nothing that you would not do when clothed and in public, 4) Pay your dues, and 5) Sign the "Assumption of Risk, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement."

Membership Dues are only $20.00 per person for the membership year of April 1st to March 31st of the following year.

Once you have turned in the application, waiver & membership fee, the criminal background check is performed, the board will review your application, and your membership card will be on its way.  Our goal is to have a group of naturists that you will enjoy getting to know.

OK, I'm ready to download a .PDF copy of the Application form and Waiver
